The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been in consultation with the state government of Maharashtra to keep Pakistan away from playing in Mumbai and Nagpur during the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 to be held in India.
Top officials in BCCI fear that right-wing party Shiv Sena might cause trouble in relation to law and order in Maharashtra on account of Pakistan playing matches in the state, a report published in The Indian Express said.
Maharashtra’s two Test venues, one in Nagpur and the other in Mumbai, were selected to host the T20 matches, along with Kolkata, Dharamsala, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mohali.
“BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur spoke to government bodies in Maharashtra and they have advised us to not have any Pakistan games as political parties might create some protest and there could be law and order situation in the state. We don’t know what the situation will be between both countries by next year but we don’t want to take any risk,” a top BCCI official told The Indian Express.

Thakur is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament. The BJP, often labelled as a “Hindu revivalist” party, is also in power in Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena has always taken an extreme stand against the participation of Pakistani players in games hosted in the state of Maharashtra, where it enjoys sizeable support as compared to the rest of India.
Earlier in July, it protested against the participation of Pakistan’s kabaddi players in league matches. As a result, the two Pakistani players — who signed up to play a professional kabbadi league in India — were benched from the matches being held in Mumbai and Pune.
Last year too, three Pakistani kabaddi players participating in the inaugural season of the league were kept away from matches in the state by their teams on account of the threat against them.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not yet announced the final draws for the World T20, but The Indian Express said in its report that India might play with Pakistan and West Indies in the same group.
In case of an India-Pakistan encounter, Chennai or Mohali would most likely be the host, the report said.
“We will ensure that Pakistan will not have to play any games in Mumbai or Nagpur. As the World T20 final is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, there won't be any problems in Bengal,” the report quoted BCCI sources as saying.

Change the venue ICC because this isn't IPL or CLT20. This is World T20 and if host can't guarantee the safety of a former champion and one of the best T20 sides in world, change the venue to somewhere where all teams play without any fear. Even if the Pakistan matches are shifted to Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Mohali etc., The players will be under constant threat and preoccupied with fear factor. Everyone knew Pak players won't be able to concentrate on the game effectively under such conditions.
PCB along with Sri Lanka and other test playing nations should lodge a protest to ICC, and ask for the shifting of the venue. India won't think twice in doing so under a similar circumstances.

It does not mean that the writ of the Indian government does not run in that state. After all, the Sri Lanka team was attacked in Lahore. Because of the security concerns in India, the tournament should be moved to a different country, and not a single game should be played in India if any of the qualified teams have a security risk in India. I dobt inderstand why people are upset at this ?? India is hosting and security is their responsibility -- i think in this case BCCI is actually thinking proactively. If they feel that certain countrys players may be in danger , its a good thing that they are trying to change tge match venues.
Remember people -- after so many years Zimbabway came to Pakistan and played matches ONLY in Lahore because of players safety.
Think about it this way -- if it was your brother in the team would you want him in the city where there may be a threat ?

As much i know BCCI and PCB both are corrupt --- on this particular issue i am with BCCI. Safety of players first and they are being proactive. And India is a big country , if there is risk in one state -- they have better alternatives - so why not change the venue . Grow up people.
Personally though i think We ( Pakistan ) should absolutely NOT play with India other than in the world cup. Nothing against the team India - i do like few of their pkayers -- its all politics and the only way to end it is to stop playing with them.

@monk Good to know that there are many investor who are ready to pay for PSL. If it works than its ok otherwise investor will catch ur neck if they don't get the good returns.

I think the government is taking proactive measures to control the security issue. We as Indian citizens will not cause any situation like this but some regional political parties whose existence depends upon the hatred towards other country can do some harm.
This is same with some political parties in Pakistan as well.
Its always good be active rather feeling sorry at last. I have read many comments by some Pakistani friends about shifting the venue\protest to change world cup venue. I don't feel like that is going to happen as 80% of ICC revenue is coming via BCCI involvement. India is enjoying the same power which (Australia\England) used to enjoy in 80's & 90's as that time they used to change the rules according to them.
Since the time has changed and Pakistan\Srilanka\Bangladesh should enjoy the power shift to India from Australia and England as playing a single series with India in a year will make these boards rich enough to run operations throughout the year.
