PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau on Friday arrested former executive district officer education, Lakki Marwat, Noor Hassan for his alleged involvement in illegal appointments of teachers and technical staff in the district education department.

A press release issued here said Noor Hassan, during his tenure as EDO education Lakki from 2009 to 2011, made illegal appointments from BPS-1 to 14 in different cadres in the education department through a handpicked committee. Some appointment orders were issued even prior to the advertisement of the particular posts in newspapers.

It was revealed during the initial investigation that the most essential requirement, the approval of district selection committee, was also not obtained in majority of appointments.

It merits a mention here that the former EDO issued 79 appointment orders against 19 vacancies of the primary school teachers to his blue eyed people in gross violation of merit and rules.

The former education official would now be produced before the accountability court for obtaining his physical remand to proceed further in the case, said the press release.
