SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 12: Seven people were killed and 22 sustained injuries when their wagon rammed into a tree near Dhool bus stop on the Lahore-Jaranwala Road, some 40km from here on Sunday.

Sources said the wagon, carrying around 29 people, was on its way to Warburton from Lahore when its tie-rod broke and the driver lost control over it. Ishrat Bibi, Nooran Bibi, Ismail, Ghulam Ali and three unidentified persons including a child died — five of them on the spot and two in Mayo Hospital in Lahore.

The injured were first taken to a nearby hospital from where they were shifted to hospitals in Lahore. Four of them were stated to be in critical condition.
