KARACHI: Mohajir Qaumi Movement chairman Afaq Ahmed on Monday condemned the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief’s latest speech and said the whole community should not be punished for the crimes of Altaf Hussain.

Speaking at a press conference at his Defence residence, Mr Ahmed demanded the authorities that the Muttahida chief be declared a state enemy and his party be banned immediately.

He also condemned the political leaders who he said were blaming the entire Mohajir community for Mr Hussain’s recent outburst by advising the community to distance themselves from the London-based leader.

He said Ghulam Mustafa Khar, the late Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and the late G.M. Syed had on various occasions spoken against the country but their communities had never been blamed for their views.

He appealed to the Pakistani nation not to question the patriotism of the Mohajirs, as their patriotism was beyond a shadow of a doubt. He appealed to the Mohajir community to celebrate the Independence Day with fervour.

Mr Ahmed said he had written a letter to the British government, asking it to take action against their citizen (Mr Hussain), otherwise the MQM-H would stage a protest demonstration outside the British deputy high commission in Karachi soon.
