HYDERABAD, Oct 12: Two peasants of Deh-331, Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka, Mirpurkhas district, have accused their landlord of withholding their share of agriculture produce.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday, Talchhu and Maujee Kohli said they were working on the lands of Abdul Manan Qaimkhani since 1996. They said they were cultivating cotton on 10 acres, sugarcane on eight acres, chilies on three acres and vegetables on eight acres.

They said their share of crops for the year 1997-98 came to Rs86,000, 1999 to 2001 Rs73,000 while the share for 2002 and 2003 had not been calculated as yet.

They alleged two months back, when they demanded their share, they were subjected to torture at the Otaq (guest house) of the landlord.

They said they complained to the UC Nazim of the area Mohammad Jafar Kalro but justice was not restored to them. They said their lives and honour of their women were in danger.

They appealed to the authorities to take notice of excesses of the landlord and restore justice to them.
