Allegations of political victimisation: UN receives MQM letter

UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations said on Friday that it had received a letter sent by Muttahida Qaumi Movement as reported in the Pakistani media.
The UN deputy spokesman Farhanul Haq said the letter had been received and “we are studying it.”
The MQM alleges in the letter that their workers are being mistreated during the current security operation being conducted in Karachi, and law-enforcement agencies are unlawfully detaining their activists.

The letter specifically mentions the raid conducted on MQM’s headquarters on the night of July 17, and the subsequent arrest of Qamar Mansoor, a member of the party’s Coordination Committee.
MQM also said that the court had allowed Mansoor to get treatment in a private hospital but law-enforcement personnel denied it citing security reasons.
Mr Farhanul Haq declined to make further comment.

Two years ago it was agreed that the Apex Committee would have a Supervisory body to oversee the operation in Karachi that it is even handed
No supervisory Body has been set Hence this problem

Separate province is only a solution for Urdu Speaking people
There is one Domicile in Punjab, one in Balochistan , one in Khayber Pukhtoonkhwa but two in Sindh (urban and rural both). This constitutional divide in addition to the famous language bill of Sindh assembly furnished the final-stroke to the burning iron.

Every one is reckoning that the city is getting it's life back.Restoring peace in Karachi and detaining illegally leaders of a political party is two different thing.Despite the order from the court to get treatment from Private hospital Qamar Mansoor has not been shifted to hospital.Rangers is out rightly biased no doubt.Rangers has become a party

Spot on. MQM several time asked the interior Minister and PM to form a monitoring committee to supervise the operation but the govt didn't. It is evident the operation is against MQM. Where is PPP, ANP and ,JI target killers and extortionist
One thing very interesting Govt.of Pakistan is writing letter to South African govt. to apprehend some wanted workers of MQM involved in extortion and target killing,but not interested to apprehend Habib Jan Baloch a famous Layari gangwar leader who is openly participating demonstration by PTI in London against Altaf Hussain.How PTI is pleased inviting a criminal to attend her demonstration against AH? It shows how far PTI can go and shake hands with criminals and murderers against MQM.

MQM has elected members sitting in both provincial and national assemblies for consecutive years since mid 1990s. They avail all the benefits the elected members are obliged to receive from the state. Elected members receive funds for development and jobs for their respective constituencies.
Karachi is the largest city with huge population. It occupies 40 assembly-seats in Sindh province than any other cities of Sindh province. Karachi's electoral-seats in the provincial and national assemblies are more than about dozen cities of rest of Sindh combined together.
Out of 40-seats from Karachi, the total 50 members of MQM are the current members of Sindh Assembly (after the PPP). So, who is suffering more in the Karachi?
