LAHORE: The National Badminton Championships will be held at the Punjab University Gymnasium Hall, New Campus here from Aug 4 to 9.

The Punjab Badminton Association on behalf of the Pakistan Badminton Federation is organising the championships.

Twenty-nine provincial and departmental teams have confirmed their participation in the championships for both men and women events including team, singles, doubles and mixed doubles. More than 200 players are expected to appear in these events.

A cash prize of Rs200,000 is allocated for the individual events. POA president retired Lt Gen Arif Hasan will inaugurate the championships.

On the basis of the performance in this event, Pakistan teams will be selected for the upcoming international events, namely Pak-China Series to be held in Islamabad in September this year, South Asian Games in India, Pak-Bahrain Combined Training Camp in Bahrain and later to participate in the International Challenge and International Series also being held in Bahrain in October-November.
