BANGKOK, Oct 11: United Arab Emirates title holders Al Ain won the Asian Champions League 2-1 on aggregate despite being beaten 1-0 by BEC Tero in the second leg of the final on Saturday.
Therdsak Chaiman scored the only goal of the game in Bangkok from the penalty spot in the 60th minute but Al Ain, managed by former Senegal coach Bruno Metsu, hung on to win the inaugural AFC competition.
Al Ain, who won the home leg 2-0 last week, survived a first-half onslaught from BEC before Therdsak broke the deadlock on the hour following a foul on Datsakorn Thonglao.—Reuters
