GUJRANWALA: Kamoki Saddar police registered a case on Tuesday against 300 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activists under terrorism and other offences for smashing windowpanes of the vehicles of a PML-N MNA and an MPA during by-election for PP-100 on Sunday.

A first information report (FIR) of the incident was registered on the application of Rana Yasir Ali wherein 150 are nominated and the remaining unidentified who smashed the windowpanes of the vehicles of MNA Shazia Ashfaq Matto, MPA Abdul Rauf Mughal and other leaders on GT Road.

PTI activists alleged PML-N workers had also smashed the windowpanes of their vehicles but police did not address their complaints.

They alleged the FIR was false and meant to harass PTI workers.

Saddar Superintendent of Police Syed Karar Husain said the PTI had not lodged any application for case.

LIFE TERM: Additional Sessions Court Judge Zahid Mehmood Ghaznavi handed down life imprisonment with a Rs200,000 fine to Iftikhar Ahmad in a murder case.

He will have to undergo a six-month hard imprisonment in case of defaulting on the fine.

The court acquitted co-accused Yousef and Nawaz.

According to the prosecution, the convict killed Irshad over an enmity in Aroop Town in 2009.

SEALED: Health officials sealed on Tuesday two restaurants for unhygienic conditions.

Executive District Officer (health) Dr Saeedullah Khan and District Health Officer Dr Ehsan with food inspectors raided Ghani Paiy restaurants in Guru nanak pura and on GT Road and sealed them.

HELD: Police with law-enforcement agencies took into custody 25 suspects during a search operation in the city on Tuesday.

Civil Lines Superintendent of Police Muhammad Nadeem Khokher said that seven drug dealers were also arrested and three pistols seized from them.

INJURED: A gunman was injured and arrested during an encounter with police on Tuesday.

Four gunmen riding a car snatched gold ornaments from a woman in Jalil Town and escaped. Aroop police spotted the car at a picket and signaled it to stop. The driver sped up the car while taking cover of firing. Police also opened fire and injured the car driver identified as Ferhan, of Sialkot. Police arrested him and impounded the vehicle.

His accomplices managed to escape.
