PESHAWAR: An official of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, has alleged massive irregularities in the purchase of stationery and construction works in the board, and demanded probe into the matter.

Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Momin Khan, academic assistant in BISE Kohat, said the officials concerned had committed massive corruption in the purchase of unnecessary stationery. He said the concerned high ups in the education department were timely informed but they didn’t take notice of the issue.

Similarly, he said huge amount of money was plundered in the construction of boundary wall of the board building. He maintained that appointments on different posts were also made without advertising the vacancies. The appointments of examiners in violation of merit, he said was a regular practice. “The irregularities have caused serious unrest among the employees and they have lodged several complaints with the relevant authorities, but to no avail,” he added.

“I am ready to provide all proofs to the government if an inquiry committee is announced for the purpose. I will also give the proofs about the officials appointed on deputation in the board in violation of merit,” Momin Khan claimed.

He said people had voted Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf to power for its slogan of bringing change and eliminating corruption, but the ruling party was yet to focus attention on irregularities in the Kohat BISE.

He appealed to the PTI chairman Imran Khan, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and education minister Mohammad Attif Khan to probe the matter and award exemplary punishment to the corrupt elements.
