RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force confiscated 126kg narcotics and 250 litres of acetic anhydride – a chemical used in preparation of heroin, and arrested nine people, among them a Nigerian national in nine raids it carried out across the country.

According to a press release, the ANF seized 121kg charas, 1.4kg heroin and 3.6kg opium worth around Rs308 million in the international market.

The ANF staff interrogated a Bahrain-bound passenger Sana-ur-Raziq of Swabi and seized 1.26kg heroin concealed in his luggage at the Benazir International Airport Islamabad.

The team intercepted a parcel at the Sky Net Courier office in Lahore and recovered 140gm heroin concealed in ladies shoes. One Iqbal Ahmed of Lahore had booked the parcel for Sana Aslam in Toronto, Canada.

While in second operation, the narcotics force apprehended a Nigerian on suspicion of ingesting heroin-filled capsules to which he conceded. He was travelling to Istanbul.

In Peshawar, the team stopped a car at the Rakshai Motorway Toll Plaza and recovered 19.2kg charas hidden in its rear bumper. They arrested two passengers Umair Masih and Nasir Hanif of Mardan travelling in the car.

The ANF team arrested Door Shah Khan of Orakzai Agency from Gulshanabad Chowk, Kohat City for possessing 9.8kg charas.

Yet in another incident, the team halted a Toyota Pickup near the Kohat Bus Stand, Kohat Road, Peshawar and recovered 21.25kg charas from its secret cavities.

Around 36kg charas was retrieved from the roof-cabin of an unattended Bedford truck parked near the Khan Amir Lucky Hotel on the Indus Highway in Kohat.

Around 35kg charas was retrieved from a drug den in Pakhtoonabad in Mangopir area of Karachi. Asghar Ali and Zubair were caught from the scene.

The ANF staff took into their custody Muhammad Zahir and Abdul Quddus after the recovery of 250 litres acetic anhydride from their vehicle near the General Area of Nooli Talab on the RCD Highway in Chagai district, Quetta.

Cases have been registered with respective police stations with further investigation being carried out.
