ME nearing moment of truth: Kidwa

Published October 12, 2003

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 11: Chief Palestinian observer, Nasser Al-Kidwa on Friday warned if Israel keeps building a concrete wall into the West Bank, it will plunge the region into perpetual violence.

Talking to reporters after the UN Security Council scheduled an open debate on the issue, Al-Kidwa said “we are approaching the moment of truth, This is an expansionist conquest wall that aims only at annexing additional Palestinian land and protecting illegal settlements. It is illegal under international law.”

The security fence will put an end to the possibility of a two-state solution of Israelis and Palestinians living side by side, he said.

Al-Kidwa said he will demand a vote at the end of the Tuesday Security Council meeting on a resolution calling the barrier “illegal” and demanding that construction be halted and the 90-mile section already built be torn down.
