Ulema urged to promote brotherhood

SUKKUR, Oct 9: District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has appealed to the Ulema of various sects to demonstrate a spirit of peace, brotherhood and tolerance in wake of the present scenario and thus supplement government efforts in maintaining law and order in the district.

Addressing a meeting on law and order at the DCO office on Thursday, he observed that Islam is a complete code of life, and condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

He was hopeful that Ulema and people belonging to all walks of life would fully cooperate with the administration in promoting a safe and peaceful atmosphere.

The district Nazim said the law and order situation was well in control and efforts were underway to further improve it and also ensure the security of mosques, Imambargahs and other places of worship.

The Ulema assured the administration of their cooperation for maintenance of a peaceful and congenial atmosphere. They also demanded a complete ban on fireworks and exhibition of obscene films in cinema houses.

Commandant, Shahbaz Rangers, Sukkur, Colonel Shahid, DCO Mohammad Mubeen Khan and DPO Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh also spoke on the occasion and applauded the Ulema for demonstrating the spirit of tolerance and accommodation and cooperating in the promotion of sectarian cohesion.
