BADIN: A multi party conference (MPC) held on Sunday expressed annoyance over unnecessary delay by the Sindh government in handing over management of the Badin Civil Hospital to the Indus Hospital, Karachi, and termed it as criminal negligence.

The MPC attended by local leaders of almost all major political parties, NGOs and members of civil society including Ali Ahmed Jokhio of PM-N, Shaffi Dal of civil society, Noor Soomro of JSQM and others praised Sindh government’s decision to hand over the hospital to Indus Hospital for 10 years on public demand.

But, they said, the bureaucracy’s discouraging response had put it in jeopardy and demanded the hospital be handed over immediately to Indus Hospital so that people could get the best healthcare.

They demanded that a board comprising medical experts, public representatives, journalists and philanthropists be formed to look after administrative affairs of the hospital.

The CEO of the Indus Hospital Abdul Haq Bari said that they had signed a memorandum of understanding with the government in March this year and agreed to manage affairs of the hospital in the best interests of people.

He said that vacant posts of specialists would be filled, modern equipment would be provided and the hospital would soon function as of one of the best and modern hospitals of the province.
