KARACHI, Oct 8: President of United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCBSA) Ray Mali on Wednesday made no firm commitment of South African team playing in Karachi.

“I know Karachi people are passionate and crazy about cricket. But I am not the lone decision maker,” Mali told reporters during a visit to National Stadium here.

“Safety and security of the players is our top priority but I admit no one even in New York or London can give guarantee of safety and security,” he added.

Observing that “Karachi is just like Cape Town and Johannesburg,” Mali said he found everything okay in the city.

He complimented Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for making excellent arrangements for safety and security of South Africa squad. “I found arrangements more than satisfactory”, he acknowledged

Mali said after he was back home on Thursday he will convey his recommendations to other officials for reconsidering South African team playing in Karachi.

“It was for various South African agencies to decide whether or not the South Africans should play in Karachi” Mali maintained.

Mali apologized to Karachiites for South Africans not playing here because of safety concerns.

Proteas were scheduled to play a One-day Internationals (Sept 26) and Third Test (Oct 23-27) at Karachi when they ruled out Karachi and Peshawar for security fears.

PCB rescheduled their visit after which South Africans arrived directly to Lahore.
