THE death of more than 1,200 people in a heat wave is a sad reflection on governance in Sindh and its capital Karachi.

Sindh has been ruled by the PPP for over seven years alone or in coalition with the MQM which has also enjoyed 12 years in power. It is sad that both major political stakeholders are blaming everybody except themselves.

I shudder to think how Karachi would have coped had the Edhi Foundation not been around to bury 500 of the 1,200 plus persons who died in the last few days in Karachi.

Clearly, something has changed since for this step to have been taken and there are shifts in the balance of power within.
