Although Bilal Maqsood is being tight-lipped about it, the media has been claiming that the new lineup for the new season of Coke Studio is all but out. And it includes some names that were once, according to some pen-pushers, associated with the Studio run by Rohail Hyatt — such as Arif Lohar and Ali Azmat.

I say it shouldn’t be judged like that. Musicians are musicians and a show is just a show. The aim is to provide quality music and it doesn’t matter if old vocalists or young singers serve that purpose. It’s time we stopped that petty mindedness.

Oh, also, it is believed that Mai Dhai and Ustad Hamid Ali Khan will feature in this year’s Studio. That’s great news. Can’t wait to hear their music. It’s just legendary.
