SHIKARPUR, Dec 23: Haji Nisar Ahmed Memon, president, All Small Traders Association (ASTA), Shikarpur, criticized the district and taluka Nazims and Naib Nazims as well as the district administration and police for not solving the problems including sanitation, removal of sewage, and law and order.

He was talking to newsmen on the occasion of the Eid Milan party hosted by the ASTA in the honour of trade and business community leaders of Shikarpur town at a local hotel on Saturday night.

He said that the streets and roads were flooded with sewage and there was every likelihood of diseases breaking out as the sanitation staff was negligent in their duties and did not remove garbage from the streets.

He regretted that many complaints were lodged with the Nazims but in vain.

Mr Memon alleged that the Shikarpur police had failed to control the crimes as instead of curbing the criminal activities, the police were more interested in courting criminals at every police station.

He expressed deep concern regarding poor investigation into a liquor factory unearthed in Shikarpur.

He demanded the IG, Police, Sindh, and the DIG, Police, Larkana, to appoint an honest police officer to conduct an inquiry so that the real culprit could be punished.

Mr Memon on behalf of the trade and business community demanded of the district and Sindh governments to recover the property tax under the provisions of law and category-wise as the Shikarpur city was declared in D-class category by the government.

He threatened to launch a protest campaign if their problems were not redressed by the authorities concerned within eight days.

SHOT DEAD: A man, Shahnawaz Chachar, was shot dead by his brother, Ali Nawaz Chachar, and his two friends in Allah Wadhayo Chachar village on Sunday.

The motive behind the killing was said to be a dispute over land.

MAN KILLED: A villager, Huzoor Bux Brohi (20), was gunned down by four rivals near the Bhawan Shah graveyard in Taj Mohammad Langah village on Saturday night when he was on his way home.

ACCIDENT: A boy, Shahnawaz, aged 8 years, son of Wazir Ali Manganhar, was crushed under the wheels of a truck (LSB-4540) near the Aslam Arain Rice Mill on Sunday.
