LAHORE: A group of lawyers on Thursday gave a sound thrashing to a police sub-inspector allegedly for using the glass of a lawyer for drinking water outside the Lahore High Court Bar Association cafeteria.

According to eyewitnesses, the angry lawyers allegedly snatched two mobile phones and a court case file from uniformed SI Liaqat Ali of Nankana Sahib.

The police official had come to the court to appear in a bail matter and after the hearing, he went to bar cafeteria to drink water.

An eyewitness said the row erupted when the SI picked a glass and water jug placed on a table normally used by lawyers belonging to the “Save Judiciary Committee”.

He said the lawyers started slapping the policeman hard on his face and dragged him on the ground.

Later, the lawyers expelled the SI out of the bar area, allegedly after snatching two cellular phones, cash and court-case file from him.

An inspector of Daska police, Shahzad Warraich, had recently shot two lawyers dead during a brawl that allegedly erupted after he was manhandled by black coats.
