Minorities boycott investigation

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 6: The Christian leaders vowed on Monday that they would boycott investigation being conducted by the Yazman police into alleged rape attempt case.

According to Fr Rocus, of the St Dominican Church, the Yazman police had called the affected parties to record evidence, but the latter did not turn up because visiting the police station daily for this purpose was humiliating for the minorities.

He said the victims had already recorded their statements with the police, who was now harassing them.

Meanwhile, the Hasilpur police claimed to have arrested the chief suspect in another rape case.

The police have arrested Ghulam Qadir, the ring leader, but his two accomplices were still at large.

HEARING: The election petition against Federal Labour Minister Mian Abdul Sattar Laleka will be heard in Lahore on Oct 10.

Petitioner Dr Ihsan Bari’s counsel have been summoned for the next date of hearing by the election tribunal, headed by Justice Syed Jamshed Ali Shah. — Correspondent
