KHAR: A government school was blown up, while a local administration official was slightly injured in an IED blast in separate incidents here on Wednesday.

Sources said that an explosive device planted by unknown miscreants alongside the government primary school for boys in Tnagi Ghari Gall area of Mamond tehsil went off on Wednesday morning, destroying all the three rooms and veranda of the school. The record and furniture of the school were also damaged, they said.

It was the first such incident in the agency after a three month lull.

Political Tehsildar Abdul Habib Khan, who along with Levies personnel was going to inspect the site of the attack, was also targeted with an IED blast. Sources said that when Habib Khan reached near the school an IED planted by unknown miscreants along the roadside went off. As a result he got minor injuries and his vehicle was also damaged. However, levies personnel escaped unhurt.

No group has claimed responsibility for both the blasts.

Meanwhile, five passengers were killed and two others injured when a car plunged into a deep ravine in Kamar Sar area of Mamond tehsil.

The vehicle was on way from Inayat Kalli to Mamond tehsil. The accident occurred due to brake failure. The victims were identified as Mamos, Asif Khan, Zubair Khan, Farooq, while name of the fifth one could not be ascertained. The injured Wali Mohammad and Waheed Gul were taken to the agency headquarters hospital, Khar.
