SHIKARPUR, Oct 6: A meeting of journalists from different parts of Sindh was held here at the press club on Monday to condemn the killing of local journalist, Amir Bakhsh Brohi.
The participants pledged to continue their protest all over Sindh till the culprits were arrested and tried in an anti- terrorism court.
Through unanimously passed resolutions, the meeting condemned the police failure to arrest the killers and demanded that the Sindh government should establish a special fund to provide financial assistance to the families of killed journalists.
Nizam Shaikh, Jeewat Ram, Murtaza Kalhoro, Mashooq Odhano Khaksar Nisar Shaikh, Mohammad Paryal Mari and others spoke on the occasion.
The soyem of the slain journalist was held.
KHAIRPUR: The journalists took out a procession here on Monday to protest the murder of Mr Brohi, which was also participated by District Nazim Nafisa Shah.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Shah said that despite the passage of three days, none of the killers had been arrested which indicated the inefficiency of the police.
MIRPURKHAS: A procession was taken out here on Monday by the local journalists and People’s Party Parliamentarian activists to condemn the murder of Mr Brohi.
Carrying banners and placards, the participants marched on the roads, demanding early arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment to them.
They converged at the railway station roundabout where the speakers, including PPP MPA Shamim Ara Panhwar, condemned the killing of the journalist and called on the government to provide protection to reporters.
HYDERABAD: Journalists and press workers, who were joined by leaders of various political parties, continued their protest for the third consecutive day here on Monday against the murder of Kawish correspondent Amir Bakhsh Brohi in Shikarpur.
The protesters observed a token hunger strike and marched on the main roads of the city.
The political leaders who joined the protest included People’s Party Parliamentarians’ women wing leader Noorun Nisa Abro, Sindh Hari Committee president Azhar Jatoi, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Abdul Waheed Qureshi and Sindh National Council leader Hussain Bux Thebo.
The journalists wore black arm bands and hoisted black flags atop the press club building as a mark of protest.
WASHINGTON: The Sindhi Association of North America on Monday strongly condemned the killing of Amir Bakhsh Barohi.
