Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, Oct 6: Berthing activity at the Karachi port is expected to gather fresh momentum as nine ships carrying steel cargo, DAP fertilizer and containers are expected to arrive on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Six ships, which arrived on Sunday were berthed on Monday. They are: Le Yi, and Albatros, to unload general cargo and soyabean meals, Dong He, Kota Permas to unload and load containers, Metaxata, to offload high speed diesel and Florida to load molasses.

Le Tai sailed out, while Kota Permas, Metaxata, Le Yi, Panos-G, Florida, City of London, Dong He and Astor are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where a total tonnage of 79,967 tons comprising 10,925 tons of export cargo and 67,042 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Gulf Progress, with 54,000 tons of gas oil, Kota Wajar, Bunga Terasak, Kota Tegum, Corin Thiakos, APL Portugal, Oriental Bright to unload and load containers, Olympias to unload DAP fertilizer and Trom-B to offload steel cargo.
