KARACHI, Oct 5: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has expressed his displeasure over the slow pace of work for the repair of Hub Canal which is a main source of water supply to the city.

During a surprise visit to the canal on Sunday, he also expressed his reservations over the assertion that the work could not be completed within the stipulated time.

He directed the concerned officials to employ more labourers and machinery and arrange for round the clock work in order to meet the deadline so that the suspended water supply could be resumed on time.

Mr Khan was accompanied by experts and civil engineers during the visit.

He pointed out that it was necessary to observe the deadline as the citizens were facing an acute shortage of drinking water. At the same time he warned against negligence or substandard work and said such practices would not be tolerated. He said that he would pay more surprise visits which could be conducted during night hours also. — APP
