KARACHI, Oct 4: The government is striving for raising education standards in the country and private sector is also being encouraged in this regard.

This was stated by Sindh Education Secretary Ghulam Ali Pasha on Saturday, while he was speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony of the Institute of Business and Technology (Biztek).

Sindh chief minister’s Information Advisor, Salahuddin Haider, speaking on the occasion, said that for the promotion of education the provincial government was also encouraging public-private partnership, adding that the grant of charter to the Biztek was also part of such a policy.

Mr Haider lauded the efforts of governor and chief minister for encouraging the private sector, saying it would foster the spirit of competition.

Deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Ms Raheela Tiwana, said that it was the policy of the government to patronize those private institutes which were serving the cause of education.

The consul general of Japan in Karachi, Kanji Hanagata, Turkish Consul General, Fevzi Uslubas, British Council’s Karachi Director, Charlie Walker, chancellor of the Biztek, Noman Abid Lakhani and Vice-Chairman, Col Tahir Hussain, also spoke on the occasion.—APP
