LAHORE: Two men were found shot dead in different areas of the city on Thursday.

A 45-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified person(s) in a street of Ghalib Market.

Police said Siddique of Karachi was working as helper at Ravi Centre where he was shot dead by unidentified person(s). Police shifted the body to a morgue for an autopsy.

Police said initial inquiries showed that the victim had left his co-workers at 9:30am and was later found shot dead in the street at 10am. The CCTV footage showed that Siddique was talking to someone on his phone and heading towards the street where he was found dead. One bullet hit in his head and the other in a leg.

The police said earlier it was suspected that Siddique might have committed suicide, but they found a ladder and some blood stains on a wall.

He said a case was registered against unidentified assailant(s) on the complaint of victim’s wife.

In another incident, Babar, 25, of Pind Baildaran, was found shot dead by unidentified person(s) in Batapur.

Police said some passersby found his body and alerted the police and his relatives.

Police shifted the body to a morgue for an autopsy and registered a case against unidentified person(s) on the complaint of victim’s father.

Wagah check post in-charge Sub-Inspector Irfan said the victim had a property dispute with his rivals and it might be the cause of his murder.

Car thieves: Police arrested two alleged car thieves on Thursday and recovered 11 stolen cars, three motorcycles and a rickshaw from various areas of the city.

The suspects were identified as Naseer Shan and his accomplice Mumtaz Shah. Two of their accomplices escaped when the police raided their hideout.

Naseer Shah was the ringleader of the five-member gang and he was also a proclaimed offender in several car theft cases registered in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The spokesperson for the DIG Operations said a police team, led by Lytton Road SHO, conducted the raid and arrested the suspects.

He said the suspects revealed they used to steal cars and contact their owners, asking them to take back the vehicle after paying them a handsome amount. He said on the information from the suspects, the police carried out raids in different areas and recovered stolen cars, bikes and a rickshaw.
