LONDON: The English Football Association says it has charged Ipswich midfielder Teddy Bishop with multiple breaches of its betting rules.

The 18-year-old Bishop plays for Ipswich in the League Championship, the second tier of English soccer.

FA rules introduced in August prohibit players at Bishop’s level from betting on any football match or competition that takes place anywhere in the world.

“The FA state players are not allowed to bet on any other football-related matter such as the transfer of players, employment of managers or team selection.

“They are also banned from the passing of information to somebody that uses the information for betting.”

It was unclear which violation Bishop is accused of doing.
