Goods worth Rs2.8m looted

SIALKOT, Oct 3: Robbers on Thursday night looted cash, ornaments and other valuables worth Rs2.8 million in various parts of the Daska tehsil.

Two armed men stopped a van (R-8775) by erecting pickets on the Gujranwala-Bambanwala Road and deprived passengers of their cash.

Eight robbers barged into the houses of two landlords — Ehsan Butt and Nadeem Butt — at Kotti Jhandu village (Motra) and held the inmates hostage. Later, they escaped after scooping ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs2.1 million.

Thieves took away fabrics worth Rs400,000 from a sports factory of local MPA Ansar Iqbal Baryar on the Sialkot-Daska Road. A case has been registered against Niaz Ahmad, a former factory employee.

Three robbers looted gold and Rs50,000 in cash from Zakaullah, Murid Husain and other passengers of a three-wheeler on the Daska-Kandan Sayyan-Mitronwali Road.
