LAYYAH, Oct 3: Additional District and Sessions Judge (Karor Laal Esan) Jahan Dad Khan has awarded death sentence to Mohammad Shafique, Arshad Ali and Mohammad Sarwar allies Teana on charges of gang-rape and robbery.

According to the prosecution, Ghulam Yasin of Chak 262-TDA was bringing her sister Samina back from her in-laws, when he was overpowered by the convicts at gunpoint, who gang-raped the newly-wed girl and deprived her of jewellery worth Rs22,000.

The judge also awarded Teana life-imprisonment on charges of abducting a girl of Chak 111-TDA, with the help of Iqbal and Younis, who were acquitted, however. — Correspondent
