IT is pathetic to mention that instead of improvement in medical facilities at Adhwal village located in Rawalpindi, the facilities have further deteriorated. The mini-hospital, (initially approved dispensary) sanctioned in 1926, was authorised with an MBBS doctor, but for the last one decade this is run by a compounder, who is also not available all the time.

The people of the village and other beneficiary villages have been deprived of medical aid. The Punjab chief minister should personally visit the village near Chountra, located 35km from Rawalpindi.

The dispensary is without medicines which poor villagers either buy from a medical store in the village or travel to Rawalpindi for the same purpose, as well as for treatment.

The appointment of a medical officer is the topmost priority of villagers. Moreover, allocation of funds for purchase of medicines and repair of hospital building have been awaited for a long time. Accommodation for medical officer is also available in the premises of the hospital.

It is, therefore, requested that immediate appointment of the medical officer is made to lessen the miseries of the people of the area. I also want to draw the attention of the Punjab health department to check the record of doctors so far posted and the gap of appointments of doctors.

I hope personal intervention by the Punjab chief minister can resolve the medical problems of Adhwal and its surrounding villages.
