WE would like to draw the attention of the prime minister and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) towards the prime issue of students who have passed MA examinations in 2014.

Under the prime minister’s laptop scheme 2014, laptops were distributed among students who had secured 70pc plus marks. But, on the other hand, after a lapse of almost one year, a number of students are still waiting for their laptops. Why is this so?

The only reason which we come to know is that the students did not validate their record/data on the HEC website because it was a new exercise for students and most of them did not know about this.

When the university has sent the validated record/data of students to the HEC, there should be no need for further validation from students.

It seems the HEC and the government do not rely on universities’ administration and, as such, require students’ confirmation.

In the near past the HEC had opened the website link of validation of record. We were happy that we would be given laptops as others have been given. Although more than one month has passed, the status on the HEC website is unchanged.

We request the prime minister and the HEC to look into the problem and do the needful.
