QUETTA: A strike was observed in several cities and towns of Balochistan in response to a call given by the Baloch Republic Party (BRP) in protest against the operation security forces were allegedly carrying out in Kalat and Mastung.

In a statement on Thursday, the BRP claimed that complete strike was observed in Kalat, Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur, Buleda, Mand, Tump, Hoshap, Awaran, Pasni, Ormara, Kharan, Mastung, Jaffarabad, Nasirabad and Sibi areas.

The strike call was jointly given by the BRP and the Baloch Republican Student Organisation

BRP spokesman Sher Mohammad Bugti alleged that security forces had been carrying out a military operation in Kalat, Mastung, Isplinji, Dasht, Kabu, Johan, Narmuk and surrounding areas for the past many days and more than 30 people had been killed during the operation.

He said two Baloch youths were killed in Mashkey in the operation in which helicopters were also used.

Mr Bugti thanked the transport and business community for supporting the strike call.
