Sorry folks; the 2016 Bollywood Wedding of the Year will not be Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's.

It's finally happening, we had thought, but spokespersons for the celebrity couple were quick to rubbish the rumour that suggested that their much-awaited nuptials will take place by the end of 2016. Ranbir and Kat are usually quite hush-hush about their relationship, so it came as a sweet surprise to fans when the rumour first made the rounds on Sunday.

However, in an interview with ABP News, Kapoor revealed that a local newspaper has distorted his statement about his marriage plans, reported Times of India.

The Bombay Velvet actor said that he had told the newspaper reporter that he had no plans of getting married this year and about the following year, he was not sure, which was misreported as an agreed upon plan to marry in 2016.

"This year both of us are extremely busy, so there won't be any time for the marriage. We have planned to tie the knot by the end of next year. Both of us have agreed on that," the report quoted Kapoor, who has since received an apology call from the daily for the misquote.

Meanwhile, Kaif's representatives also released a statement, saying that the wedding dates are false, and that "there are no plans as yet."

Kapoor also added that he wouldn't hide an event as important as marriage, "which brings happiness to so many lives".

Ranbir is currently busy shooting Tamasha and Jagga Jasoos, while Katrina will soon resume work on Fitoor and Jagga Jasoos.
