GUJRANWALA, Oct 1: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday accepted the bail application of an accused involved in the Chianwali church bomb case.

Muhammad Dildar, Muhammad Rashid and prayer leader Maulvi Muhammad Afzal had been booked by Satrah police last year. At least four Christians were killed in the bomb blast on Christmas..

The ATC No 2, Gujranwala, had rejected the bail application of Afzal, and declared Muhammad Rashid as proclaimed offender.

The accused was detained in Gujranwala jail where the bomb blast case was being tried by the ATC in jail premises for security reason.

Meanwhile, a local court confirmed the bail of a primary schoolstudent and his father involved in a brawl case.

Aroop police had arrested Atif and his father Ashraf some two weeks ago, but a local court granted them interim bail.

The investigating officer informed court that the student’s name was entered wrongly in the FIR in place of his elder brother.

THRASHED: Villagers thrashed members of a joint raiding team of Gepco and police when they tried to sever their illegal electricity connections in Sheikhwan Talwandi Musa Khan village on Wednesday.
