HYDERABAD, Oct 1: Many City taluka councillors staged a demonstration outside the press club under the banner of the Councillors Rabita Committee here on Wednesday.

They were protesting against the indifferent attitude of the union councils’ Nazims and Naib Nazims.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders of the committee Abdul Rauf Shaikh, Muhammad Iqbal Qureshi, Mirza Afzal Baig and others said that in a recent notification issued by the government, the councillors were not sanctioned any honorarium but despite that the Nazims and Naib Nazims were silent over the issue.

They said that an attempt had been made to sabotage the new system by ignoring the councillors in respect of honorarium.

They claimed the councillors had been serving the people at the grass-roots level for more than 20 years without any honorarium and they were prepared to serve them without any reward, however, they would not tolerate injustice.

They also staged a protest demonstration outside the district council hall where Waseem Akhtar, adviser to the local government addressed members of the district council.
