ISLAMABAD: Two more matches were played in the ongoing opening round of the Red Bull Campus Cricket T20 tournament on Saturday.

Both games were played at Islamabad’s Comsats Ground, where the hosts and International Islamic University (IIU) recorded comfortable wins over their opponents.

In the opening game of the day, Comsats prevailed over Nust by a five-wicket margin. The hosts won the toss and opted to field. Nust batsmen made good use of the batting conditions, posting an imposing first innings score of 188-9 with Faisal Zaman smacking six sixes and seven fours in his 83.

In reply, Comsats were provided a flying start by Uzair and Junaid Malik who top scored with 68 and reached the target with five balls to spare.

In the second game of the day, IIU defeated the Air University team with consummate ease. Air University batted first and continued the trend of big scores on the day by making 177-7. Ahmed Saqib struck six sixes and three fours in his 25 ball 55-run knock.

IIU cantered home in only 15.4 overs as the Air University bowlers suffered at the hands of the rampaging batsmen. Babar Khaliq was in scintillating form and muscled his way to a 37-ball 93 that included seven sixes and nine fours.
