Lyari grenade attack: Brother of provincial minister killed

KARACHI: Akbar Nagori, brother of Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadi Jawed Nagori succumbed to his injuries, here on Friday late night.

He had received multiple injuries in a hand grenade attack at the office of the minister, located at Shah Waliullah Road, Lyari.

According to police the office of Nagori was attacked with firing and grenades on Friday evening. Resultantly six people were injured and brought to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where Akbar Nagori died during treatment.

Chief minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali.

Deputy Inspector General Police, South Dr. Jamil has held elements of the gang war responsible for the attack.

He termed the assault as a reaction to the successful operation against criminal gangs in Lyari by Law Enforcement Agencies.

According to him, 32 gang warfare suspects have been arrested during last 30 days.

The DIG further said that strict action would be taken against the involved gang.

Meanwhile, heavy contingent of police cordoned off Lyari town, sealed entry and exit points and started a search operation in several areas of Lyari.

Although the incident is tragic, my sympathies with the family, but I am happy. Our armed forces have sacrificed many dear and beloveds. They have seen and listened to stories of terrorists playing football with heads of their fellows. These politicians never learned a lesson that some day the fire is going to catch their house as well. I am happy that now they are the victims of terrorism. I hope now they will learn the lesson. I warn judiciary also to learn lesson from these incidents. Someday they have to sacrifice for their future generation to survive. Either they sacrifice before the fire get to their house or afterwards. The cost of preventive measures is always lesser than reactive/corrective maintenance. Choice is with all stakeholders. Either you cry or make terrorists cry before they make you cry. Start executions awarded by military courts. Our military brothers have sacrificed their kids but Alas we have not learnt anything.

Our CM's have become: 'Taken notice', 'asked for report' and so on. What a joke with the nation. What have they done to improve the system, the state institutions and the law and order? And we continue voting for these non-performers.
