Published October 1, 2003

LAHORE, Sept 30: The last batch of the Pakistan troops left here for Congo on Tuesday as a part of the UN peacekeeping mission there, says an ISPR press release.

Brig Anwarul Haq bade farewell to the troops. With the departure of the batch, the number of Pakistan troops assigned the peacekeeping job rose to more than 1,000.

Brig Haq told the troops that they were embarking on a noble mission as representatives of Pakistan and should therefore manifest, through their sincere efforts, that they were dedicated professional soldiers of Pakistan.

He said sacrifices rendered by Pakistan army during its over half a century peacekeeping history had earned it a place of glory the world over. This was a befitting tribute to the professionalism and devotion of Pakistani soldiers, he said. —Staff Reporter
