KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Haider Abbas Rizvi, while addressing a press conference at MQM headquarters Nine Zero, categorically denounced "baseless allegations" levelled against the party by SSP Malir on Thursday.
After MQM decided to sit on opposition benches and elected its own opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, the scenario changed, said the MQM leader.
Rizvi said: "Despite the MQM being blamed for all sorts of crimes and facing an ongoing media trial, the party managed to grab a substantial victory in NA-246 — which was termed as the biggest by-election in the history of the country.
“This is political drama unfolding. Who is the ultimate beneficiary in this scenario?” questioned Rizvi.
"The way people have shown their belief in MQM's leadership and its chief Altaf Hussain is unprecedented. It was after this affirmation from Karachi's populace decades ago that MQM decided to pursue politics to benefit the common man.
“For how long will this blame game continue? MQM is the country’s third-largest political entity. I don’t even want to respond to such heinous allegations,” said Rizvi.
There is nothing new in the allegations hurled at us today by a corrupt mid-level police officer, said Rizvi. “This is all repetition; not even the central figures in the story have changed over the years.”
Some 300 MQM workers were arrested in relation to Hakeem Saeed's murder, said Rizvi, adding that several of them were killed during detention.
"But all of them were respectfully acquitted by the country's apex court."
He said today's allegations were reminiscent of the 1990s, when the party was blamed of conspiring against Pakistan in the Jinnahpur scandal.
"The Supreme Court later acquitted all our members and workers and cleared our name from the scandal."
Rizvi said SSP Rao Anwar had been involved in the killing of hundreds of MQM workers. “Rao Anwar is a corrupt police officer and the world knows about it,” he added.
Rizvi said it was a lie that MQM worker Junaid was arrested on Wednesday night, saying that “Junaid was arrested on March 24, 2015, and his family had filed a petition in the Sindh High Court on March 28 in this regard.”
“Tahir alias Lamba was not arrested last night; he was arrested February 26, 2015, and the very next day his wife approached the Sindh High Court against his illegal detention,” he added.
Earlier on Thursday, SSP Malir Rao Anwar had announced the arrest of two terror suspects, whom he claimed were members of Indian spy agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing).
Speaking to the media, he had made the startling claim that the suspects – Tahir alias Lamba and Mama Junaid – also belonged to MQM and had been sent to India for training in the past.

All allegations poring in need to be investigated by the establishment. If proven action needs to be taken, this has gone on too long. In any case this stigma will stick for a long time. By the same token model town and other incidents should also be brought to a judicial end.

Was it MQM who raised "Jaag Punjabi Jaag"? Was it MQM who implemented quota system?Why no other province have that? Why PTI chairman kept Zakir khan with his cricket team without playing?? If Imran were urdu speaking will pathans and punjabi still follow him.. People call themselves punjabi, sindhi, balochi, pathans.. So what's the problem if people call themselves Muhajir/Urdu Speaking? They ask karachi people to live as a sindhis but at the time of election they claim that CM must be sindhi??? Does NA246 represent whole Karachi?
Rizvi and Babar Gouri should be investigated. Why Army is not acting on it? How long will they wait. it has been knows for 30 years that MQM is paid and trained bY RAW.
They are sheep mentality peoples in Karachi and in Pakistan that follow these leaders blindly until they end up like Saulat Mirza.
PMLN and PPP government and Judiciary are corrupt and incompetent to deal with MQM. Army MUST act now and save Karachi from Terror speared by MQM on the name of Mahajir.
Army should also arrest others criminal from PPP and any other party that is involved in criminal activities.
Army should not wait for PMLN, PPP or Judiciary to do something because these parties will not do any thing

Everyone knows that the MQM has many sub factions and that many of them were on RAW's payroll and went to india for training. Last time I checked SSP's have cleared the Civil Service examinations and are non-partisan (i.e. don't belong to any political party). People of Pakistan know what the MQM truly is.

MQM is good, in fact very philosophical in organizing a press conference never mind denouncing some reports or denouncing someone who had been or were their die-hard worker(s).
they are becoming habitual in negating every thing and anything that is not of their taste. but their appetite for further ingress into more powerful roles is certainly over the hill and diminishing with every passing day as we are approaching July when we will all see UK judicial system will pull out finally a verdict on one of his citizens who is running a political, rather hostile political wing in Pakistan... how long these fellows in Pakistan will denounce Altaf's cronies or his turbulent past in Pak ?. time to think positively for themselves and for other people falling under their wings. At least show some remorse and face the music.

The only way to deal with this is to take it to the court and resolve this ASAP. This is no ordinary allegation -- it's alleged treason that should result in capital punishment to the leaders of a political party, if convicted.

SSP's press conference and allegations stink like a big pile of political junk, which has been taken from previously used up propaganda scripts. This clearly shows how untransparent and unfair the operation in Karachi is. The operation is heavily polluted with political agenda for planting other parties in metropolis that have no support and respect from/for people of Karachi. It's so unfortunate that LEAs are completely incapable of understanding public sentiment and growing frustration in response to these crafted allegations and don't refrain from these dirty schemes. They are keeping themselves occupied in hatching schemes against a popular political party and its supporters, hence affecting the fight against true criminals and making no friends among peaceful people of Karachi. Food for thought.....

MQM needs a "come to Jesus" movement.
The reality is that winning from Azizabad is not a victory. In fact, the way MQM had to do convincing, the bye-election has turned MQM into a local party.
Let's face it.. there were and there are criminal elements in MQM. It must act to eliminate, even if that means short term losses on the political front.

Political leaders can give political statement but not police. Our police is corrupt as they are always used by agencies and governments for victimization of political opponents. Why police does not go to courts but go to media. This is called media trial. Espionage charges must be investigated by proper agency.
You cannot have RAW training two people and then call it SP's fault for speaking without permission.
Maybe, he was asked to keep silent and he decided to speak before all of this was suppressed by CM and the Governor.
Army must investigate and if allegations are wrong, officer has to be brought to justice.

Systematic and concerted effort is going on by all parties in order to knock out MQM from political scene.Conspiracies are hatched every now and then. Blame game has become very common tool and what not.
Why?
The answer is quite simple.
Some parties are interested to gain control of MQM's vote bank.
GOD will help poor MUHAJIRS , if they are muhajirs even now after over 6 decades of living in Pakistan and having sacrificed everything for the sake of PAKISTAN.
