PM assured of UK support in fight against terrorism

LONDON: Prime Minis­ter Nawaz Sharif met his British counterpart David Cameron at 10 Downing Street on Saturday.

The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international situation, including the current situation in the Middle East.

They expressed satisfaction that ties between Pakistan and the UK had substantially strengthened in recent years.

They expressed the confidence that bilateral ties would see further enhancement, especially in the areas of trade and economy.

Mr Cameron acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan and appreciated the country’s efforts to eradicate extremism and terrorism from its soil. He said the UK would continue to assist and extend cooperation to Pakistan in its fight against militancy.

Mr Sharif appreciated UK’s cooperation and assistance in the areas of security and counter-terrorism.

Earlier, Mr Sharif along with other world leaders attended the centenary commemoration of the Gallipoli campaign in the World War One.
