PM arrives in Washington today

WASHINGTON, Sept 29: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali arrives here on Tuesday from New York to undertake official visit of the United States, at the invitation of US President George Bush.

“An extensive programme has been drawn up for the prime minister,” official sources said adding, the official visit will begin with Prime Minister Jamali’s meeting at the White House with President Bush, on Wednesday.

This would be followed by a lunch hosted in honour of the prime minister by the US president, according to official programme.

Later at 2 pm, the prime minister will address a press conference at a local hotel.

Apart from discussing ways and means to further augment bilateral ties, the prime minister will also discuss with President Bush regional and global issues including Pakistan-India relations, development in Afghanistan, the situation in Iraq and the Mideast peace process.—APP
