KARACHI, Sept 29: A Sajjad Hussain winner helped Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) overcome a spirited National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) 3-2 in the President PFF Cup football tournament in Quetta on Monday.

According to information, Atiqur Rahman opened the KRL account in the 7th minute only to see his effort being cancelled out by the bankers’ Jameel Baba the next minute.

Sarfaraz Rasool again put KRL ahead in the 11th minute, but Jameel was unstoppable as he again levelled 2-2 in the 26th minute.

However, Sajjad netted the 38th-minute match-winner to give his side a hard fought victory. KRL has already reached the quarterfinals from group ‘D’.

Mohammad Nawaz scored the first hat trick of the tournament to enable Police to thrash former national champions PIA 6-0.

A 11th-minute goal by Attaullah was followed by two strikes by Nawaz in the 16th and 20th minutes, while Mohammad Aslam made it 4-0 in the 31st minute.

Nawaz went on a rampage to add two more in the 42nd and 62nd minutes to complete the rout.

The Group ‘A’ match, however, had no significance as both sides have crashed out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, eight outfits who have reached the quarterfinals of the ongoing tournament will play along with eight provincial teams in the national league’s B division next year March.

Tuesday’s fixture: PTCL v PAF.
