Contraband set on fire in Bara

LANDI KOTAL: Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Hidayat ur Rehman visited Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency and torched thousands kilograms of contraband, which the security forces had seized during the last nine months of the military operation both in Bara and Tirah valley.

An ISPR statement said that the contraband included 72,616 kilograms of charas, 117 kilograms of heroin, 389 kilograms of opium, 950 bottles of liquor and seven kilograms of dangerous chemicals worth Rs5954 million.

The statement said that security forces seized the illegal drugs during search operations. The purpose of seizing the contraband was to provide the returning families of Bara a drug-free environment upon their return to their respective localities, it added.
