TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra city police claim to have recovered a boy kidnapped for ransom on Monday and arrested his kidnappers.

Police said Model City resident Mushtaq’s son Usman, 12, was kidnapped at gunpoint from the locality by Bilal of Chak 363-JB, Sobedar Wala, and his two accomplices.

The suspects detained the boy in a house in the village and demanded ransom from his parents for his release through phone calls.

The police traced the whereabouts of the suspects from the call data of their mobile phones and recovered the boy in a raid.

The suspects were also arrested.

DEMO: Scores of students and teachers of a private special education school staged a protest demonstration on Monday at Pirmahal against demolition of their institute.

School owner Abid Gujjar claimed the institute building was razed illegally at the behest of a ruling party lawmaker as he was his political opponent.

He also claimed to have the ownership documents of the property.

He said his non-profit school was being run by an NGO, Akhuwat. He said the demolition caused a loss of Rs8.5 million, demanding compensation for that.

Pirmahal Assistant Commissioner Hafiz Muhammad Najeeb said Gujjar had illegally constructed the building by grabbing state land worth millions that was demolished to retrieve the land.

SENTENCED: A Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court handed down on Monday 10-year imprisonment and Rs100,000 fine each to two men accused of injuring a policemen and a youth of Toba.

City police had registered a case against the accused -- Farhan and Shahbaz -- on Jan 5 for injuring a police constable when they were fleeing after hurting a youth in a gun attack in the grain market over some dispute.

Police in retaliatory fire had also inflicted a bullet injury to Farhan.

KILLED: A youth was allegedly tortured to death after being kidnapped over monetary issue.

Rajana police said Azeem Aslam of Chak 284-GB was kidnapped allegedly by Ibrar, Qasim and their four accomplices who later tortured him to death.

Police were conducting raids to arrest the suspects.
