LAHORE: The Punjab government is purchasing more mobile health units for Rs1 billion during the current year for providing treatment facilities to the people of remote districts at their doorstep.

Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique said this while addressing a pre-bid seminar regarding purchase of mobile health units at Services Institute of Medical Science on Saturday.

Health Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Health Director General Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, PCSIR Director General Dr Shahzad, University of Engineering and Technology’s Dr Asif and representatives of the firms having interest in the provision of mobile health units were present on the occasion.

According to a handout, the technical committee informed the representatives of firms regarding technical qualification of mobile health units.

Salman said the chief minister had directed that mobile health units should be durable. These units should be of high quality and have an ability of bearing weather conditions and long journey and could provide facilities of service delivery effectively.

He said the mobile health units had been providing best services for the last many years in six districts of the province and in the light of successful experience more such units were being purchased.

He said it would be kept in view that the new health units with high quality medical equipment should be durable and of high quality like those purchased earlier which could provide service to the people for a long period.

Jawad Rafique and Dr Zahid Pervaiz said that in the light of chief minister’s directions, quality will be kept in view in the purchase of mobile health units and no compromise will be made in this regard.
