KARACHI: Sixteen special players from Sindh, who had bagged medals in the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games held at New Castle Australia last year, were given cash awards by Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) in an impressive ceremony held on Thursday at the Karachi Gymkhana. Besides the athletes, four coaches also received the awards.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the awards besides announcing a ‘Player of the Year’ award for a special athlete every year.

Rashid Siddiqui, sponsor and chairman Afeef Group, Gulzar Firoz, the recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and vice president Pakistan Tennis Federation, Ronak Lakhani, secretary SOP, Naseem Ahmed, project Director SOP, Mohammad Khalid Rehmani volunteer SOP, and Rubina Asif, Director Local Government Karachi were also present on the occasion.
