KARACHI, Sept 28: The chancellor of the Sir Syed University, Z.A. Nizami, has been elected president of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association for the third consecutive term, says a press release.

The results of the elections, held on Saturday, were announced on Sunday. Mr Nizami got 194 votes, and his opponent 50.

Engr Zakir Ali Khan was elected general-secretary for the fifth consecutive term. He secured 214 votes.

Other office-bearers elected were Mohammad Afzal Hanif as honorary treasurer; Asghar Ali honorary general-secretary, Ali Zafar Khan Afridi joint secretary (sports), Syed Arif Raza joint secretary (publicity) and Absar Ahmed Siddiqui joint secretary (academic).

The 18-member executive committee elected. The winners were Abdul Rasheed Khan, Abdul Sattar Khan, Mohammad Hussain, Sultan-ul-Arifeen, Mohammad Saleem Saleh, Syed Mahmood Hussain Zaidi, M.A. Yazdani, Yusuf Siddiqui, Waheeduzzaman Ansari, Mukhtar Ahmed Naqvi, Sharaf Ali Hashmi, Commander I.R. Farooqi, S. Faiq Hussain, Mohammad Moudood Ansari, Syed Aftab Ahmed Zaidi, Commander Saleem Siddiqui, Mazhar Ali Khan Arif and Mohammad Zafar Hasnain.
