SARGODHA: Mushaf Airbase Commander Sarfraz Khan said that kite and pigeon flying must be curtailed in the cantonment and nearby localities of the airbase to avoid loss of billions to the PAF.

He said this while addressing a meeting of civilians and PAF officials here on Friday, according to an official handout.

The Air Commodore said at least 1,215 incidents of birds’ collision with aircrafts had occurred in five years. He said that fish farms should not be set up in cantonment areas while dead bodies of animals should also not be thrown in open spaces.

He said awareness should be created among public about the necessity of curtailing birds in areas close to the airbase.

Mr Khan said that bird hazard committees should launch birds curtailing campaign in Istaqlalabad Colony, Tariqabad, Chaks 87, 88, 49, Mitha Masoom, Chak 71 and Dharema localities.
