ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday reminded all candidates contesting local government elections from cantonment areas from the platform of political parties to submit their party tickets to returning officers concerned by April 8.

The commission said those aspiring for a symbol allocated to a political party need to present a certificate on the party letterhead signed either by the party head or any authorised office bearer of the party. In case the party head authorises an office bearer to issue the party ticket, the provincial election commission must be intimated.

It recalled that requirements for obtaining party symbol had already been explained in detail in the letter written by it to heads of political parties on March 31 which was still available on the commission’s website. It asked heads of political parties to immediately send the lists of persons nominated by them to issue party tickets.
