ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: The National Assembly on Saturday forwarded to Interior Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat the application of PPP MNA Naheed Khan demanding action against a ruling party Senator Gulshan Saeed.

National Assembly Secretary Mehmood Saleem Mehmood said Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain had desired to send the application to the interior minister.

The PPP MNA has demanded registration of a criminal case against the PML senator under sections 324/506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

A senate special committee on privileges has already asked the Islamabad administration to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the PPP claimed that the action had been taken for inciting an alleged murderous assault by the senator on the opposition members, who were staging a token hunger strike outside the parliament building on September 23 against what they said unconstitutional address of Gen Pervez Musharraf to the UN General Assembly.

In the application, Ms Khan has claimed that Senator Gulshan Saeed was riding a vehicle (IDG-143), which belonged to the secretary senate.

On September 25, Ms Khan had submitted a reminder to the secretary requesting action against the senator.
